GC Rieber VivoMega is located in Kristiansund, a small town situated on five small islands next to the dramatic North Sea and the infamous shipping route Hustadvika.

There are roughly 24.000 inhabitants living here and  approximately 80 people work at GC Rieber VivoMega.

The history of Kristiansund is rich and founded upon the fishing industry. The city center is a natural formed harbour where fishermen would find shelter in stormy weather. Still to these days, whenever there is a storm, boats will find shelter at our port next to our omega3 concentrate factory and offices.

The ocean has provided the people of Kristiansund with work for many centuries and Kristiansund is well known for the klippfish industry, exporting this salted and dried fish mainly to Spain and Portugal, but also to exotic countries in Latin and South America.

In these days, the oil industry in the North Sea is important for the people of Kristiansund, with Kristiansund being an important base for among others supplies, support and technical service to the oil rigs and support vessels. Here at GC Rieber VivoMega it is another treasure from the sea that is the star of the show. We are proud of being a manufacturer of the Omega-3s EPA and DHA,  which is a product with strong roots to the rich history of the town and surrounding area.

GC Rieber principles of giving back to the community is making us want to contribute where we can.

KBK (Kristiansund Ballklubb) – Our local football club playing and managing well in the top division is our pride and joy.
In addition, we support children’s football, the local twirling team, the tennis team, a youth start up company and many more.

The GC Rieber Foundation has also contributed to help finish the sherpa stairs at Kvernberget, a small mountain overseeing Kristiansund. The sherpa stairs will make the access to the top of the mountain more available for a broader part of the population.
